Drummer and singer-songwriter Simon Charterton played drums in the late 70s with post-punk outfit The Homosexuals and the post-sensational Alex Harvey Band before forming John Peel favourites The Higsons and topping the early to mid 80s indie charts. Simon has since led various leftfield outfits as drummer/singer-songwriting frontman, including cult bands Zook, Nitwood, The Aftershave and Simon&thePope. Now based in St Leonards, Simon is one third of Near Jazz Experience alongside fellow ex-Higson Terry Edwards and Mark Bedford of Madness.
